Course Content
Module 1:
An Introduction to ‘Working Safely’
- Why working safely is important
Module 2:
Defining hazard and risk
- Identify health and safety hazards
- Assess the level of risk they present
- Put in place appropriate risk control measures
Module 3:
Identifying common hazards
- Recognise common health and safety hazards
- Assess the risk involved
- Put in place appropriate risk control measures
Module 4:
- Improving safety performance
- Recognise the importance of a health and safety management system
- List the key steps in successful health and safety management
Final Assessment
- A test consisting of two parts
Course Duration:
6 to 8 hours total
A maximum period of 6 months is allowed for completion.
Successful completion results in the award of an IOSH Working Safely certificate.

- New starters
- Workers from any sector requiring a grounding in health and safety essentials
